Using The Internet When Selling Your Home

Everyone’s in a frenzy about the Internet. But can it really help you sell your home?

Whether or not you use a real estate agent, listing your home on the Internet can have some profound results. Four years ago, sales via the Internet were virtually non-existent. Today, agents are closing big deals — and lots of them.

If you’re thinking of selling your home, start by deciding whether you’re going to use a full-service or discount agent or go it alone. Just be sure whoever you choose is Internet accessible. If you go it alone use one of many web sites that cater to FSBO’s. Your agent’s firm should list your home in the local MLS and on the Internet. Ads placed in local newspapers should upload those classifieds to the web.

As a seller, your job is to get the word out. That’s even more important if you’re selling without an agent’s help. The Internet is the hot new way to do it. So get wired and start selling.
