Starting a Small Business

On yesterday’s show, I recommended some assistance for people starting businesses:

www.score.org
www.sba.gov (small business administration)

These would be good places to start looking for information and resources. If you need cash, and have written out a business plan, you might be able to get a loan from your local bank.

Consider taking a course on starting a small business from your local community college. Often, these are taught by attorneys or successful entrepreneurs looking to give back and you may find good contacts there.

And while I’m thinking about it, visit your local chamber of commerce to see if they have any connections for you or can help you network with some of their members.

If anyone else has any good suggestions for finding information or resources for starting a business, please add them as comments to this post.
