Is it legal to raffle or lottery off your home? You’ll have to do the research for your particular state, but most likely, selling a home through a raffle or lottery is illegal.
Septic Problem Should Have Been Disclosed
A home buyer purchased a home that turned out to have major septic problems that weren’t disclosed at the time of the purchase. The septic field should never have been approved by the health department. In some states, if you have to sue the seller for a failure to disclose a material issue that should have been disclosed to you, you may also be entitled to recover your costs of suing the seller for a recovery.
Settling Property After Split
A couple splits up leaving the name of the man on the mortgage but both names on the title. Now the gentleman is stuck with the debt of the mortgage and not sole ownership of the home. The man can either buy the woman’s share of the home or go to court to have the home awarded to him and become the sole owner on the title.
Wait To Transfer Property Through Inheritance
It is probably better to transfer property through inheritance, rather than gifting or quit claiming the property. With inheritance, the property will be transferred at the market value of the day of the land, and both parties will avoid a big tax bill.
