Do you have funds in a credit union? Wondering if they're as safe as FDIC-insured banks?
Credit Unions have insurance for deposit accounts that is very similar to FDIC insurance. Here's the link to a calculator to tell you whether your funds are safe.

I just discovered a 20% interest certificate of deposit in the Philippines. Website is http://themoneymakers.org/englishindex.html
It's PDIC insured, something similar to the FDIC. But I wonder if it's really safe: Can the poor Philippine government really pay if a bank goes bankrupt?? Comments are very welcome!

I don't know if this is a safe investment, but I think the old adage applies: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Twenty percent on your money in any economy is insanely wonderful -- but in this economy, it's really suspect.
