Basement Walls – 8-Foot Walls Versus 9-Foot Walls

Q: I was wondering what dollar value could be placed on the home value if the basement had 9 foot walls versus the standard 8 foot. I assume the overall value of the house should increase approx. $7500 versus 8 foot walls. Can you provide some assistance?

A: I have no idea how much more the house would be worth. There is no standard and it’s a very local issue. But I know that a few top local real estate agents would be able to tell you. I’d call and ask someone who works frequently in your neighborhood what the price differential might be.
