Virginia Savage McAlester – Author, a Field Guide to American Houses

Virginia Savage McAlester is the author of a Field Guide to American Houses, the fully expanded, updated, and freshly designed second edition of the most comprehensive and widely acclaimed guide to domestic architecture—in print since its publication in 1984, and acknowledged everywhere as the unmatched, essential reference to American houses.

McAlester is a graduate of Harvard-Radcliffe College and attended Harvard Graduate School of Design. She is a founding member and past president of Preservation Dallas (formerly called the Historic Preservation League, Inc.) and of Friends of Fair Park, a support group for the Fair Park National Historic Landmark in Dallas, site of the 1936 Texas Centennial Exposition. She serves on the Dallas Landmark Commission and is an Adviser Emeritus of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

Steve Repak – Certified Financial Planner & Author

Steve Repak is an Army veteran, motivational speaker, consultant, and a principal at Repak Financial Services. He is an advocate for financial literacy and a 14 year veteran in the financial services industry. He has helped countless ordinary people turn their finances around with his inspiring personal finance presentations and one-on-one financial counseling.

Paddy Hirsch – Senior Producer at NPR’s Marketplace & Author

Paddy Hirsch is a Senior Producer of Personal Finance at Marketplace. He is the author of the book Man vs Markets, Economics Explained, Pure and Simple, and he is the creator and host of Marketplace Whiteboard, a video explainer of financial and economic terms.

Hirsch joined Marketplace in 2007 just as the credit crunch that preceded the 2008 financial crisis began to take hold. He was an editor of the New York Bureau and the entrepreneurship desk throughout the crisis and he spearheaded Marketplace’s financial markets coverage as the economy slipped into recession. He was awarded a Knight Fellowship at Stanford University in 2010, and he returned to Marketplace in July of 2011. He published his first book, Man vs Markets, in August 2012.
