Mortgage Hotline Number

REM #A797

By Ilyce R. Glink

Summary: A reader asks Ilyce to provide the federal government’s mortgage hotline number. The mortgage hotline number is 888-995-HOPE. Call the mortgage hotline number if you can’t pay your mortgage.

Q: In the weekly Real Estate Matters section of our newspaper you answered a question about a short sale for someone who was dealing with an adjustable interest rate reset.

You referred them to the Federal Government's mortgage crisis help line but when I call the phone number provided, it is for AT&T business services. Can you give me the phone number to the help line again please?

A: Sorry about that. There was a typo in the column (since corrected, but apparently, you didn't see it). You'll want to call 888-995-HOPE. My apologies to AT&T for the extra traffic to their call center.
