GlinkSummary: According to the website PrivacyRights.org, when the Fair Credit Reporting Act was amended in 1996, it required that credit reporting bureaus provide consumers with the ability to opt out of having their names and addresses sold to credit grantors for marketing solicitations. Q: A few weeks ago in your column, you gave a phone number to opt out of unwanted mortgage and credit solicitations that wasn't working.
