Real Estate Minute: Home Repair Help For Veterans
Added July 11, 2006 by Ilyce R. GlinkSummary: Real Estate Minute with Ilyce Glink SERVING THOSE WHO SERVE OFFERS HELP REBUILDING Original Air Date: July 11, 2006
Transcript:
The numbers of those soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan is dwarfed by the number of personnel who have come back with severe injuries. And some of those injuries make it impossible for our veterans to return to their homes, without making some major renovations.
But fixing up your home is expensive, particularly when you’re widening doorways, adding ramps, and rebuilding bathrooms to make it wheelchair friendly.
Rebuilding Together is the nation’s largest volunteer-based repair and rehab program. More than 225,000 people donate their time to help fix up the homes of low-income folks.
Their new special initiative called “SERVING THOSE WHO SERVE” is helping fix up the homes of the most severely injured service personnel. You can apply online at servingthosewhoserve.org. Other organization that can help, include the National Amputation Foundation, Marine for Life, USA Cares, and the Wounded Warrior Project.
I’ll put up links to these organizations at wsbradio.com and ThinkGlink.com.
