Transcript:

As the owner of a small business, I’m always looking for people who are a few steps ahead of me who can give me great advice.

Mentoring, experts say, can be a great tool to help small businesses move to the next level. But finding a good mentor is a tough job – everyone good is busy with their job, family, and friends. That doesn’t leave much time left over to counsel strangers.

But there are a couple of non-profit organizations whose sole mission is to pair up small business owners and potential mentors, and provide other entrepreneurial resources. Score, which was originally known as the Service Corps of Retired Executives, has a great website and chapters all over the country.

You might also try MicroMentor.org, and the Aspen Institute’s FIELD programs, offers a nationwide directory of programs dedicated to helping entrepreneurs.

I’ll put up links to these organizations at wsbradio.com and ThinkGlink.com.

With practical, informative consumer advice, I'm Ilyce Glink, News-Talk 750 WSB
