Putting Retirement Into REITs

Added March 23, 2009 by Ilyce R. Glink

Summary: Here are a few resources on finding a financial planner who specializes in REITs.

Q: I enjoy listening to you on WBS Atlanta on Sunday. Your show is very informative. Your sensitive but practical approach is refreshing! I have been listening to Ray Lucia (“The Buckets of Money”) man who talks about placing part of your retirement investment into non-traded REIT(s). What is your opinion and can you direct me to a local financial planner (or company) that specializes in this area?

Thank you and keep up the great work!

A: I don't think you should put your retirement money into something that you can't get out of easily. But hey, that's just my 2 cents.

For financial planners, check out Mike Kavanaugh's office (www.moneybulletin.com), www.garrettplanningnetwork.com, and the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (www.napfa.org). Check out these two websites for local recommendations to financial planners who charge "fee only" or by the hour.

Thanks for listening to the show! And don't forget to sign up for my newsletter!
