Blog: Filling in for Clark Howard on Newstalk 750 WSB

One of my part-time/full-time jobs is being a radio talk show host for the top News/Talk station in Atlanta, Newstalk 750 WSB. I've been filling in for nationally-syndicated radio talk show host Clark Howard for 7 years or so. I'm Clark's "Kent," so to speak. I sit in for Clark somewhere between 20 and 30 days each year, plus I host my own 2-hour talk show on the station on Sunday mornings from 11 to 1pm EST (10-noon Central).

Clark's show focuses on how to get you to "spend less, save more, and avoid getting ripped off." My show follows along the same lines. My focus is to help you make the most of every dollar you earn, and then some. I believe firmly that with a few smart decisions, plus some follow-through, you can wind up richer than you ever dreamed possible.

On today's show, I'm going to talk about some of the more unusual products that were introduced at last week's National Association of Home Builder's annual convention in Orlando, Florida. I'll also talk about the idea -- floated in yesterday's Wall Street Journal -- that homeowners are cutting back on home improvement projects so much that you may be able to get a great deal from your contractor. (Just getting them to show up on time would be a good start, but more on this during the show.)

Finally, I'll end with some stories from Connect NY, the Inman real estate and technology conference I attended last week instead of going to the home builder's show. In today's show, I'll focus on the idea that the web is going to truly level the playing field when it comes to buying a home, by giving home buyer bloggers a chance to put information of their own out there about the homes they've seen.
