Blog: Register Your Cell Phone with the Do Not Call List
Added January 27, 2006 by Ilyce GlinkLiz Handlin, who writes about job hunting matters for ThinkGlink.com, just sent me an email reminding me that all cell phone numbers are being released. Marketing companies are going to be all over these newly released numbers, calling them and sending you text messages.
If you don't register your cell phone number with the DO NOT CALL list, you could find yourself paying for unwanted direct marketing calls and text messages. Ugh.
Go to www.donotcall.gov and sign up your cell phone. The registry is good for 5 years. You'll need to enter the cell phone number, give a valid email address and then when you receive an email, click on the link to activate your number on the do not call registry. You can also call (888) 382-1222.
And don't forget to check out Liz's job-hunting tips (and great resume advice) in the Money Matters section of ThinkGlink.com. Her website is www.ultimate-resumes.com.
