Want to know how to get federal tax credits for installing energy efficient equipment? Make sure you qualify for the tax incentives by researching the products and find out how much of a tax credit you will qualify for. The tax credit for home replacement windows in 2009 and 2010 must meet certain energy performance criteria. You can also qualify for tax incentives by installing energy efficient heat pumps, air conditioners, windows, roofs and more. Make sure you are eligible for the tax incentive by keeping documentation for the energy efficient products and for the tax credit.

Energy Star Tax Credits And The First Time Home Buyer Tax Credit

Some people will benefit by buying a home in 2009 and qualifying for the $8000 first time home buyer tax credit. Others will be happy to sell their old homes and buy new ones and qualify for the $6500 repeat home buyer tax credit. Still others will buy more insulation for their homes, install solar panels, wind turbines or high efficiency water heaters, high efficiency furnaces and high efficiency air-conditioning units and can obtain a tax credit for those items. Some of those items must be energy star compliant to qualify. But best of all are those people that buy homes, get the tax credits, make improvements to their homes and get an additional tax credit for those improvements.
