Q. What is a lockbox?

A. A lockbox is a rectangular metal box that’s attached your property. It may be attached to the front of back doorknob, or nailed or glued to your sidewall, perhaps near the electricity meter.

There is usually a master key which can look like a house key, though the more sophisticated lockbox systems use electric key cards- that any member of the local broker’s board can purchase and that allows the member broker access to the box at any time. Your front door house key hangs on a hook inside the box.
