Does a senior citizen need to worry as much about having a high credit score? Unless a senior plans to buy a home or a car on credit, having a credit score might not be as important.

A daughter has suggested her near-retirement parents gift her the money from selling their home so she can buy them a new one and live in rent free. It would be much less complicated if the parents bought themselves a new home or saved the money for their retirement. Or, if the daughter can afford it, buy the parents a home for their retirement and have them pay rent to the daughter.

When you've gone through a divorce and you get the house, how can you ensure that the house goes to the heirs you want? The names on the home's title affect who inherits the property, not the names on the mortgage loan. In addition, to remove the names of former spouses from a mortgage loan you have to refinance and it's difficult to refinance after a bankruptcy. A former spouse is unlikely to give up ownership rights to a home when he or she is still listed on the mortgage loan.
