The latest phishing scheme involves the Better Business Bureau. The logo and name of the BBB is being used in fraudulent emails sent to a variety of companies.
First brought to the BBB’s attention on Monday, the email subject line is “BBB Complaint Case #” followed by a nine-digit number. According to the email, the company did not respond to a complaint by Kathleen Hicks, a variety of other fake names have also been used.
The BBB warns companies not to click on any links within the email or respond to it. They have offered tips on how to detect the fake emails on their website. If you receive one of these emails forward it to phishing@council.bbb.org and then delete it.
