Ilyce Glink tells us about the top 10 moving destinations in the US on today’s Real Estate Minute.

Americans are on the move. According to the Census Bureau, more than 36 million Americans moved in 2012. Where are they moving to?

According to Penske Truck Rental, a global transport company, most Americans are moving for the weather. Sarasota, Florida, with its beautiful beaches and a median home price of $165,000 drew the most interest, followed by Charlotte, North Carolina, home to some of the biggest financial services companies and a median home price of $162,000.

Other top draws include Seattle, Denver, Houston, Chicago, Orlando, Phoenix, Dallas-Ft. Worth, and Atlanta. These communities have a mix of employers, a wide range of housing prices, good weather – well, except for Chicago – and great entertainment options, including fine restaurants and cultural activities.

Of course, it all starts with the economy. The Great Recession put the brakes on moving for years. Now that the economy is starting to move, so are Americans in search of more opportunity.

Let’s help rebuild America, one house at a time.
