How should you choose the right colors for your house? According to the Melanie Wood, of the Color Marketing Group, start by examining the way you want to feel when you’re inside your home.
The best way is to look at the colors that make you feel good. Do blues and greens energize you or do you feel better with cozy colors like yellows and terra cottas, she said.
Many decorators recommend you choose a unifying color or theme for your home, to give it a sense of tranquility.
Once you’ve chosen your interior colors, it’s time to move outside. Wood says the trend in exterior colors is to choose those that are more in synch with the environment. The idea, she says, is blend the exterior of the home into the nature that surrounds it. So look around the neighborhood for more sand-colored homes with pale green trim.
In other words, don’t be afraid to match your house to your flower bed.
